There are several entertainment options around the Rock Hill area open to visitors. Rock Hill, once a railroad and textile town, is now the 5th largest city in the state of South Carolina. It is located 25 miles south of Charlotte, NC and 70 miles north of Columbia, SC, which is the state capital. Several attractions and activities are listed below.
Various Eateries: This site features a variety of stores, restaurants, and entertainment options to visit and experience what Rock Hill has to offer.
Glencairn Gardens: Land that was transformed from the backyard of a home owned by David and Hazel Bigger has evolved into a beautiful 11-acre garden visited by locals and out of towners. The house now serves as the park's welcome center. An annual 10-day-long festival known as Come-See-Me is a major attraction and is held in April.
Historic Brattonsville: A living history farm on approximately 800 acres with interpreters who depicts the life of enslaved people. The property consists of original slave cabins open for tours.
Freedom Walkway: Located off main street in downtown Rock Hill, is an alleyway with a colorful mural and a unique type of brick.
The Friendship Nine: 10 Friendship College students staged a sit-in at McCrory’s Lunch Counter to protest segregation and were arrested. Nine refused to pay the fine and stayed in jail for 30 days . The Kounter Restaurant is now located at the old McCrory's store, where you’ll see the original lunch counter and stools from 1961.
African American Business District: Monument located on the corner of Black Street and Dave Lyle Boulevard in downtown Rock Hill, marking the location of the African American Business District. The Business District served the African American community until it was demolished in the 1970’s.
Old Town: Another name associated with downtown Rock Hill, where there is a variety of restaurants, art, live music, street festivals
and history.
York County Murals: Explore the various murals located throughout the city.
Cherry Park: 68-acre park with scenic trails, a large playground and numerous park amenities. Large softball/baseball tournaments are played there.
Carowinds: A 407-acre amusement park that borders North and South Carolina. It's owned by Six Flags.
